The Scoop:

I was originally approached by the client who needed a website with extensive back-end functionality including extensive document management, complete content management, bespoke design, built in statistics monitoring, a back end where documents could be submitted and reviewed before going live, a website where categories and key words could be used to display lists of articles, etc.. And of course, on a budget

Many other companies would have been happy to charge thousands and thousands of pounds to provide them with a bespoke solution but it sounded quite obvious to me that what they really needed was already available, free. Wordpress.

Wordpress is free, comes straight out of the box with most of what they needed, and free plug-ins were available for most of the other features they wanted. Within a week from our initial meeting, I was able to create for the client a bespoke design (including logo/graphic work), which I then converted into a WordPress theme. By manipulating PHP files and through some clever CSS and XHTML-ing, along with a little creative plug-in juggling, I was able to push this site live, ready to be used and filled with articles, in just under a week.
